Real weddings: Brisbane Style Agatha and Matthew

Congratulations to Agatha & Matt!

Agatha and Matthew’s emotive wedding has also been featured in the latest edition of Brisbane Bride to hit the shelves.   Agatha & Matt asked Rachel Marsden from our Studio Impressions team to photograph their beautiful wedding held at Our Lady of Victories, Bowen Hills.   Their reception was at Gianni’s Events at Portside.

Some of Rachel’s favourite images are below and the full story of Matt & Agatha’s wedding is avaliable online at BRISBANE BRIDE MAGAZINE 2009 edition.

It means a lot to us, as photographers, to be entrusted to capture someone’s memories and to do justice to the planning and effort and heartfelt emotion that goes into a wedding day.  I just wanted to share the words from the people that count the most, our customers.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY: “From the moment we were engaged, one of the most important things for me to get the best photographers for our wedding.  As soon as Rachel sat down with us to talk about what they do and how they do it, I instantly felt she was the right one to go with.”

“Our Photography package included a slideshow from the day for everyone to enyoy over dessert…so many people commented on it, saying they were brought to tears of joy!  Our photos were divine and it was very difficult to choose which ones to have in our album.”

COVER: 2009 Brisbane Bride

Congratulations to Patricia Torrisi, who will be adorning the news stands for the next 12 months as Brisbane Bride’s cover bride.

Patricia is wearing an original gown from designer Brad Webb of Darb Bridal Couture.  She married Chris at the Greek Orthodox Church at South Brisbane and the reception was held in the Grand Ballroom at the Stamford Plaza hotel.   The magazine is also available to view online at BRISBANE BRIDE MAGAZINE.

In their interview with Brisbane Bride, Patricia and Chris gave us the most lovely compliment;   “Marcus captured each precious moment in a way we never imagined.  The magic of our wedding day will be enjoyed for generations to come”.

Thank you Patrica and Chris for being such a wonderful couple to photograph, and for letting Studio Impressions be a part of your special day.  Patricia, you have now become the third Studio Impressions bride in the past four years to be chosen as a cover model.  You look beautiful!

Portraits for Gianni

To celebrate the 40th Birthday of Gianni Greghini, well respected restaurantor, owner of Giannis Restaurant, Gianni’s Events at Portside and his new venture Gusto da Gianni.  Celebrating her birthday on the same day, Gianni’s mother made the 24 hour trip from Italy to join in the celebrations.    To record the event, a mutual client commissioned me to take their portrait as their birthday gift to Gianni.    It was my pleasure to be able to share in Gianni’s mother’s pride at seeing the successful life her son has created for himself in Australia, and to see the closeness that exists between Gianni and his mum.

I chose to set the portrait in a nearby wharehouse to create a really nice texture within the image.  For me Italy is full of texture and warmth and I wanted to portray that feeling in these images.   I used only the available light.  There was a large window that illuminated the subjects in soft light.

Nikon D3x Launch

At 3pm Sydney time the Nikon D3x was officially launched in Australia,  this coincided with the official worldwide announcement from Nikon Japan.  A number of professional photographers including David Oliver (pictured below) and a swag of Press from around the country joined together to mark the launch of the new camera.

The launch was held at the Museum of Sydney.  There is a couple of great exhibitions currently on at the museum, including a retrospective of fashion photographer David Mist.  Another exhibition included iconic Sydney architecture.  One of Sydney’s landmarks is the Opera House and it is well documented at the museum of Sydney.  The great designer of the Opera House Jorn Utzon sadly passed earlier this week.

Here is a couple of images that I have taken of this amazing structure.
