The NEW Essential Actions

BUY NOW

For many years we have been developing Photoshop Actions to use in our studio to help save us a bit of time in working our prints.   After over a decade of professional print making, and talking to clients about what they like in their images, we have compiled what we believe to be the definitive list of Actions that any user of Photoshop should be applying to improve the time they spend on common image enhancing techniques:

ESSENTIAL ACTIONS

This is a set of simple tools to improve workflow and improve your image styling.  All the studio “essentials” are there like black & white conversions and colour corrections, sharpening, vignetting and others.

All my studio staff learn & use these actions regularly- but they are only for Photoshop this time – not Lightroom.    They will work on CS2 and anything above, and work on both PCs and Macs.

I’ve posted some examples below, but a full tutorial is also included with the disk.

The Image Styler Vol 1

Interactive Photoshop Actions

I have often be asked how I create my “signature style” and give my images the look and feel that they have.   I suppose that many people feel like they can now distinguish a “Marcus print” by the way the print is styled.  Although I do try to shake this up a bit now & then by doing stuff people don’t expect of me, it is true that my images tend to have a particular look and feel.  I guess that is my expression of my vision.

So, how do you create your own signature print?   We have created over 20 interactive photoshop actions to guide you through creating your own signature art print:

The Image Styler

We’ve described this as “interactive” photoshop actions because it is more than push-a-button effects.  This resource is designed for professional photographers with a vision for their print, who still want to save time and improve their processing, but fundamentally want to control the output.

Again for Photoshop only – CS2 and above.  Works on both PC & Mac.

I’ve attached some examples below of what some of the actions within Image Styler can produce, but really the end result is in your control on this one.

INSTANT EFFECTS Volumes 1 & 2

Presets for Lightroom & Photoshop

I am a lover of Adobe Lightroom and the opportunities it presents photographers to do cool things for their clients.   We have been using lightroom for some time now in the Studio and over time have created some fantastic shortcuts that we would like to share with you.

Instant Effects is two volumes (each for sale individually) of presets for Lightroom and Photoshop designed to create amazing effects on your images in significantly less time.     It really allows you to let your creativity go wild, and create some incredible art pieces.

There are over 40 different effects in each volume, including all your favourites - various vivid colours, color tones, moody black & whites and so much more.    I love this because not only can you apply some of the effects you would commonly use, but you can combine presets to create even more looks if you really want to do something different.

For all you professionals out there – you will be happy to know we have spent quite a bit of time making this an easy-to-follow program.

For clients – it means so many more options for how your prints can look.

I’ve posted some examples below.   (We’ve had a bit of fun naming the effects too – hope you like them!)

WPPI – The Countdown!

Only 9 days to go until the Wedding & Portrait Photographer’s International (WPPI) conference in Las Vegas.

For anyone that hasn’t heard of this event, it is one of the biggest events in the Professional Photographer’s calendar each year.  Put on in conjunction with Rangefinder magazine and held in the spectular Las Vegas each year, WPPI draws over  ten thousand wedding and portrait photographers from all over the world.

This year, I’m really thrilled to have been invited again to be a Platform speaker, especially when I see what a great line up it is this year!  I’m speaking on Monday 16th, but for a full program head to the WPPI 2009 website.    I’m looking forward to learning a lot this year from some of the best in the industry world-wide.

This year, one of our favourite professional labs THE EDGE Photo Imaging will  be sharing a stand with us at the WPPI Tradeshow.   I use this lab all the time in my studio, because honestly, after trying many different labs over my 10+ years in business, no other lab has given me better results.  Come & check them out.  Stand 1464.

PRESET LAUNCH AT WPPI

I am also excited to announce the launch of my new range of Photographer’s Resource products – available for the first time at WPPI!

The Studio Impressions team, (especially the legendary Adam Finch) & I have all been working hard on packaging up some of the great new presets, actions & workflow tools we’ve been developing, designed to make the life of a photographer so much easier.

Every few days, we will post details about one of our new products & show you some of the cool stuff we have been doing here in the Studio.    So watch this space!

And if you are coming to WPPI, drop by & visit Adam & I at THE EDGE Stand number 1464.

Here is a favourite image from last year with good friends.  Yervant, Joe Buissink, Bambi Cantrell, Jerry Ghionis and Dennis Reggie
