Kristy Saville & David Hussey Wedding
May 27th
It was a perfect day. Not a cloud in the sky, sun warming a cool 18 degrees and we were in the Yarra Valley for a wedding. The wedding of Kristy and David.
The star of the day was Kristy, she looked absolutely stunning in a dress by Helen Manuell of Manuell & Moore, complimented with flowers by Victoria Whitelaw. The venue they chose was perfect - simple, elegant and intimate, and so relaxing. Stones of the Yarra Valley has it all covered with an on-site Chapel and the original Barn that has been converted for receptions. This was my first wedding there and I hope to do more – I loved it!
It just so happens that the groom is Australian Twenty20 Cricketer and legendary batsman, David Hussey, and the guests were a veritable who’s who of the Australian and International Cricket community. Everyone at the wedding obviously had a great time and the bus trip back to Melbourne with Kristy & David’s friends and family will be a trip I will always remember.
Planning a wedding can be a challenge, but imagine doing it with Kristy & David’s schedule. David only just made it back to Australia in time for the wedding after the finals of the Twenty20 World Cup against England. The Iceland volcano ash closing flights out of England for the second (or was it the third time) meant he touched down in Melbourne with only a couple of days to spare. The wedding ended on a very emotional high as the next day David & Kristy were flying out to England so David could Captain Nottinghamshire’s T20 campaign this season.
Thanks Kristy and David it was a real pleasure photographing the wedding of such warm and genuine people. Thank you.

Naomi & David’s Brisbane Wedding
May 26th
Adam asked me to share with you the beautiful wedding of Naomi and David that he recently photographed.
This was an extra special wedding. It was also the 30th wedding anniversary of the Bride’s parents. Naomi and David held their ceremony at St Paul’s Lutheran Church and they were married by the same priest that married Naomi’s Mum and Dad 30 years earlier. He even came out of retirement for the occasion! What a very special blessing for a newly married couple to receive.
Their reception was at Customs House and Naomi’s gorgeous dress courtesy of Brad from DARB Bridal Couture.
Naomi and David, thank you for choosing Studio Impressions as your photographer. We wish you a marriage as special as that of Naomi’s parents!

Versace Glamour with Jana and Rohan
May 19th

When Jana and Rohan’s wedding was processed in the Studio, I heard a chorus of ”who did her dress?” “Look at those shoes!” from all the females working in the Studio.
Well girls, Jana’s dress was designed by Australia’s most glamorous fashion designer Alex Perry. I still have to ask about the shoes.
My wife sent me this quote from the French fashion designer Lilly Daché when she saw these images:
“Glamour is what makes a man ask for your telephone number, but it is also what makes a woman ask for the name of your dressmaker”.
Jana had glamour in bucketloads!
This was a beautiful wedding. You could feel the connection between Jana and Rohan. They are obviously loved dearly by their family and friends who helped to make this one of the most loving and most glamorous weddings I have photographed.
Jana and Rohan were married at St Vincent’s at Broadbeach. The reception was held at the only six star resort in Australia, Palazzo Versace and didn’t it look amazing!

Congratulations | “Brisbane’s best MUM”
May 10th
Congratulations to Leanne Philipsen!! The winner of the 97.3FM Sunday Mail RBWH Thanks Mum Competition and now the 2010 face of the RBWH Mother’s Day Appeal.
Leanne is an amazing woman. She is mum to four children of her own and eight foster children! Leanne was nominated by her daughter Kylie who has just become a mum herself. Now Leanne’s kids can be proud every time they drive down Bowen Bridge road, where her portrait graces a huge billboard directly across the road from the RBWH!
The winner was announced live on air by 97.3FM on Friday at the unveiling of the billboard, and we were there to capture the excitement!

We have had a fantastic time photographing the five finalists of the Thanks Mum competition, and helping raise awareness and much needed funds for perinatal research undertaken by the Perinatal Research Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Each of these ladies are amazing in their own right, and it was a real privilege to give them a chance to feel special. Their day of pampering started at Hare’s Hair where they had their hair done. Then off to us at the studio where they enjoyed some champagne while Bruce Rehbein of Makeup Master did the makeup. They chose their favourite outfit, before we started the possible “billboard shot” and then did some outside portraits.
Each of these women deserved to win.
Leanne came to the Studio feeling a little nervous about having her photograph taken as she had never had a professional portrait taken before. However by the end of the photo shoot, Leanne was relaxed and having such a great time, although she was conscious of getting to school to collect the kids – I guess it’s true that a mother’s work is never done!
Frances was nominated by her daughter-in-law Stacey, who came along with grandson Jack to support Frances for the Portrait session. Frances needed no encouragement, she was a natural in front of the lens. It was an exciting day for Frances’ grandson Jack who was celebrating his third birthday. He thought it was great eating cakes and chocolates while watching his Nanny Fran smile and pose for the camera.
Julia was both surprised and impressed with her oldest son Andrew who, at just 26 years old, nominated her as Brisbane’s best mum. They have had both dealt with serious illness and this was his way of saying ‘Thanks mum’. Julia said she holds a very strong bond with both of her boys and couldn’t have asked for a better mother’s day gift.
Teresa had wanted to become a teacher from an early age but, like many mothers, had put her families needs first. At 49 years old Teresa fulfilled her dream and completed a teaching degree and is now happily teaching a year four class at a North Brisbane school. It was her eldest daughter Emma who is also a teacher who nominated Teresa.
Kelli was nominated by her husband of 17 years Jason, who came along with Kelli for the portrait session. Kelli jokingly referred to Jason as her chauffeur as she sipped on champagne and had her make up done. Jason looked adoringly at Kelli the whole time. You could tell he loved her just as when they were married 17 years ago!
Happy Mother’s Day to you all!
Brisbane Wedding Katie & Chase
May 4th
At the wedding of Katie and Chase I was reminded of a quote I’d heard;
“Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination“ (Voltaire).
This couple are truly in love – you can feel it. Their wedding was filled with love and it was reflected in all the little styling details that said so much about who they are and what is important to them. The whole day was like a work of art.
Katie and Chase had a gorgeous ceremony along the banks of the Brisbane River in the beautiful gardens of the Brisbane Stamford Plaza Hotel. After, guests enjoyed the afternoon sun wandering along the boardwalk to the historic Customs House for the evening celebrations. What a way to set the scene!
Katie & Chase’s “work of art” came with a little styling help from the lovely Jodie and Danielle from W.edding & Co.
Take a look at some of my favourite images below, and you will see why everyone enjoyed this wedding so much. Congratulations Katie and Chase, and thank you for sharing such a touching and emotional day with us.
