Renee & Bruce
Dec 31st
Here we are on the last day of 2010, so I thought it was the perfect time to share with you one more beautiful wedding for the year. This is one of Adam’s and, I think you will agree, offers some fantastic images to finish the year on. Looking at these images makes me just want to get in the car and go there. Penny says it makes her want to get married all over again. I only hope she means married to me when she says that!
Renee & Bruce took 20 of their closest friends and family to the serene surrounds of Midginbil Hill in the Byron Bay Hinterland for their wedding. They held their ceremony under the big tree on the hill and a relaxed wedding feast with the breathtaking landscape as their backdrop. What more could you ask for? A beautiful place, shared with all the people that mean the most to you in the world. No wonder there were so many tears during the speeches! Renee & Bruce looked gorgeous, the venue was gorgeous, and the little touches of country charm they added pulled it all together with style. And the images….well see for yourself………..
Congrats Renee & Bruce from all of us at Studio Impressions. May 2011 only be one of many wonderful years of married life.

Merry Christmas 2010
Dec 24th
Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas!!
What an amazing year. I can’t believe it’s that time again. So below, for your enjoyment, we have posted our annual Christmas Greeting card.
Every year we look forward to creating our Christmas card and this years was a lot of fun. We deviated from the usual Christmas theming to celebrate the other great thing that happens at this time of year – HOLIDAYS! All the staff got involved, came up with the concept and did all the preparation. Rather than rely on the ever useful, self timer we organised our good friend Jason Starr from Studio 60 to press the shutter on the faithful D3x that has served us so well over the past year.
No animals or professional stylists were harmed in the making of this image (we didn’t use any, so all reputations can remain intact). The people in the image are real, but their characters are fictional. Any similarities to actual individuals living or dead is not intended, just lucky. We do not condone excessive drinking and the fashion choices expressed in this image do not represent the views of Studio Impressions or its staff. We can only be held accountable for bad taste and good times.
So, wherever you are, put on some holiday spirit and enjoy a little Christmas cheer. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
All our love, Marcus, Penny, Adam, Tania, Karen, Gabe, Aurelie and Nicola.
Studio Impressions.
In order of appearance from left to right: Adam, Aurelie, Tania, Gabe, Penny, Karen, Nicola and Marcus.
PS: All props, including clothing came from the homes and wardrobes of Studio Impressions staff, except, of course, for mine. Luckily for me I was able to borrow my shirt, hat and glasses from Adam. Thanks Adam you always have been a man of style.
Athena & Dariusz
Dec 23rd
I have been working on the album of Athena & Dariusz & as I look through all their images I cannot believe I haven’t yet shared this beautiful wedding on the blog! I’m really pleased with the images I got (I hope Athena & Dariusz are too!). I think they reflect the classic, sophisticated style of this wedding and give a nod to the traditional touches throughout the day. But to be honest I don’t think that even these images tell the full story of just how touching, fun and full of love this day was. Athena & Dariusz really are a great couple. They seem to me to be romantics. But not the dreamy, head in the clouds kind of romantics. They are timeless, feet on the ground, filled with life and the joy of it, kind of romantics. The important things are special to them – friends, family, tradition. You know, what I mean – they are just lovely.
So was their wedding. Jodie of Wedding & Co helped Athena & Dariusz plan & style their perfect day, with a little help from flowers by Sandee & Dave at Always Fabulous Flowers. Athena wanted to create a ‘garden paradise’, and to do so, seated their guests at tables adorned with beautiful arrangements of fresh flowers, all of which filled the space with their delicious scent. Right through to the cake by Greg from Sweetums. The colour scheme was Oyster, vintage gold, rose and sage, and it looked perfect! So did Athena, wearing a J’Aton Couture gown, hair by the one & only Bennie Tognini from Tognini’s Hair Skin & Body and makeup by Stacy Ponting of Locks & Lashes.
This day was a true celebration of their heritage. They chose the amazing Greek Orthodox Church of St George as the place to combine Athena’s Greek heritage with Dariusz’ polish background. It was a a very special place to their family as it was also the church that Athena was christened in when she was a newborn. What a perfect symbol of moving from life with your family to creating a family of your own. The strength and importance of Athena & Dariusz’ families were ever evident and it added a very special dimension to their day. Athena best described it herself when I asked her…..
“The feeling of being married, surrounded by several generations of our families as well as our closest friends was truly amazing. We were both so very thankful to be able to celebrate our wedding in the presence of everyone who has contributed to our lives both independently, and as a couple. ……all members of our bridal party stood by our sides for a reason. We wanted them to know how special they are to us.”
Their friends obviously felt the same, as their Best Man Peter travelled all the way from the United Kingdom to be there and the Groom’s Aunt & Cousin Ewa & Iwona also travelled out from Krakow, Poland. Athena’s Godmother Esta also acted as Koumbara for Athena & Dariusz. She had also been the Koumbara at the wedding of Athena’s parents. Athena’s Aunt Katherine & Uncle Jean Louis also played a very special part in her day. Jean Louis is the Executive Chef and Katherine the wedding and event organiser at the Greek Club.- their chosen venue. What a special night they provided for this Bride and Groom.
BUT even if you stripped away all the special details that their family provided, Athena & Dariusz’ love still stands strong and forceful and romantic. Maybe it is because of how they met….
“We met at university, toward the end of our degrees, when paired for a group assignment. Whilst it was not exactly love at first sight as our focus was devoted to the task at hand, we both knew relatively soon after, that this was the beginning of a special relationship.”
As I look through their photos, I can’t help but see that look on Dariusz’ face that tells me, this one is forever. Their favourite song is the Aerosmith classic “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing”. I can almost imagine Dariusz singing it in his head as he looks at her….
” don’t wanna miss one smile, I don’t wanna miss one kiss
I just wanna be with you, right here with you, just like this
I just want to hold you close, feel your heart so close to mine
And just stay here in this moment for all the rest of time”

Leigh & Andrew
Dec 15th
I told you Adam had been photographing some beautiful weddings. Here is another where the fantastic images are only outdone by the story that goes with them. Man, this guy is good. Lucky he works with me.
Andrew, a Mining Engineer, met Leigh at an underground mine, 800km west of Townsville. Remoteness, it can do wonders for the head and the heart. I am pretty sure when Andrew was doing a fly in fly out on a mining site, he NEVER thought he would meet the woman of his dreams. He might have found a few good drinking buddies, but the love of his life – who would have thought? But there she was, part of the Human Resources team on site and the most perfect woman he had ever met. At Christmas Andrew worked right through, then flew home on New Year’s Eve. At least they could see the New Year in together. So Andrew took Leigh to Sirromet Winery for a long lovely lunch. I’ve done the same with my wife and lunch at Sirromet with the one you love is like – well, it is like exhaling. You can breathe again. Andrew must have felt this way because after lunch he took Leigh down by the lake and proposed.
Leigh looked gorgeous on her wedding day. She chose the best setting in Brisbane to get ready for her day – The Stamford Plaza. She also chose a classically beautiful gown by Ellie Saab with shoes from Kurt Geiger. Her look was finished with makeup by Abigael Johnstone from Latonas. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen Abigael do a terrible job. She makes every woman (and some men – usually TV personalities) look like a movie star. Andrew also looked fantastic with classy finishes like a Hermes tie and Paul Smith shoes. They celebrated their love with friends and family at Hillstone St Lucia, which, as usual, provided the perfect venue. This was really important to Leigh & Andrew, as after working so hard, it was the first time they have had all their friends & family in one place for many years. How special to have them all their to celebrate with them.
They had some great little touches. Cake with cupcakes by Sarah Jane at Cakestar, and some great little lolly jars by Pink Frosting. Leigh said these were perfect for giving their guests something they could enjoy now (the lollies) and also keep for later (the keep-sake jar).
Leigh and Andrew, thank you for choosing Studio Impressions to photograph your wedding day. I know Adam had a wonderful time and raves about how nice you both and all your family were. Know that we all wish you a long and happy marriage and many more romantic lunches in life.

Kinga & Nigel
Dec 3rd
Wedding season this year has seen the whole studio busy. Lately my posts have been mostly couples that I have photographed, but Adam too has been booked out with really beautiful weddings this year. I’ve managed to grab a few that blew me away to post over the next few days. Here is the first….the deeply meaningful wedding of Kinga and Nigel.
You know the old saying….”they make music together”. This is the phrase that came to mind when Adam told me the story of Kinga and Nigel that goes with these images. Everything about this wedding was significant. I LOVE weddings like this. Where all the details are not driven by current trends or by any sense of “what you are supposed to have or do”. Instead the details reflect things that are personally meaningful to them. Deeply meaningful. The whole wedding ends up being a reflection of not just their love for each other, but also a celebration of their family history, their individuality, and the new family bond they are now creating.
Kinga and Nigel got married in St John’s Cathedral. They chose this magnificent church because Nigel’s Grandad worked as an architect on the construction of St John’s. He was responsible for designing the ornate wood carvings that you find inside the cathedral. How special that this is where Nigel pledged his love and commitment to Kinga.
Kinga’s Dad is a classical composer. Kinga walked down the aisle to music composed especially for her, by her father, played by musicians that were also friends. Kinga’s dress was designed by the very popular Pina Fiorenza, but as Pina is a family friend, Kinga’s dress was made with even more love and care than Pina’s usual designs. Pina was on hand at the Stamford Plaza to help Kinga get ready, also doing her makeup for the day. This would be a dress to keep and hand down to your daughter. Kinga’s flowers were by Shirley Baggaley. Their reception was lunch at The Queensland Club where Nigel’s father is a member. Fine food and fabulous jazz, family, friends and lots and lots of love.
Kinga and Nigel, from all of us at Studio Impressions (and especially from Adam), we hope your lives together are forever full of as much love and meaning as on your wedding day.
