One of my favourite things to photograph are tea ceremonies.   I love the history and tradition that they represent, but even more, I love the intimacy of a tea ceremony.   Watching as a bride or groom serve their parents tea in a gesture of thanks and respect, I can’t help but notice the mix of pride, joy and sadness that never fails to come across the faces of their parents.   And when it is part of a small ceremony that only the immediate family attend, I can’t help but feel touched to be privy to this exchange of tea and emotion.

Annie and Brian let me experience this twice.   First at the  Marriot Hotel Brisbane where Annie was getting married, and then at the home of Brian’s parents.   It was beautiful.   This wedding was full of beautiful, interesting, and some funny traditions.  Little ceremonies within a big celebration.   I just couldn’t get enough.

Annie and Brian’s wedding ceremony and reception was at the Glades golf club on the Gold Coast, and the day was glorious.  Warm sunshine and fluffy clouds, a soft sun shower, wind through the long grass, lifting Annie’s veil, family love and tenderness.   All I had to do on this day was open my eyes.

Thank you Annie and Brian for sharing your wedding day and your families with me.
