Weddings
Family Wedding Photographer
Mar 2nd
Just before going to the USA, I photographed a wedding in Brisbane that was quite special to me. I had the privilege to photograph Mardi and Rob’s wedding at the International BrookWater Golf course designed by Greg Norman.
What made it so special was that I have photographed Mardi’s children’s weddings in previous years. Through the years I have become their family photographer and have now photographed all of their new grandchildren and all the individual families. It really is lovely to get to see the joyous occassions in families like this.
The wedding was touching - an emotional affair for everyone.
The beautiful surrounds on the course.
To be a part of many of the monumental occasions in this family’s life has been so special. We took a picture of the four of us.
The relationship started back in 2002 when Sonessa & Scott first hired me as the photographer for their wedding on the 12th April 2003. This was when I was using the Canon 30D at the time. A 3mega pixel camera. Cameras now get up to around 21 megapixels! How quickly things change.
The second wedding was Sonessa’s brother Travis, who married Jessica on the 17th September 2005 (below). This time shooting with Canon 1d Mark II.
Things really have changed because I have just finished shooting Mardi & Rob’s wedding on a Nikon D700!
Regardless of the equipment though, these are some of my favourite images because they have given me the chance to get to know this family so well.
From this day forward…
Jan 15th
Wedding vows are something that most couples I’ve photographed spend quite some time thinking about in the lead up to their wedding. But, as one who has been married past the 10 year mark now, I have to say that my wife & I don’t often think about the words we spoke that day anymore. Marriage however is not about remembering those words, but about living them in each day. “To have & to hold, from this day forward…”
Freda & Artemio Schiavo reminded me of this when they asked me to photograph their 50th wedding anniversary in December. 50 years and still in love!
Freda & Artemio celebrated with their friends & family at the Stamford Plaza Brisbane. Congratulations and thank you for inviting me to part of this truly magical celebration.
These two images where captured straight after each other, expressing the moment for each of them.
One surprise on the night was the arrival of the Best Man and Matron of Honor from the wedding day.
The defining moment of the night. It will also be a moment that I will also personally always remember.
Freda & Artemio where presented with a special gift at the end of the night, a framed family portrait. It is the words that Artemio said out loud when he held the frame up to view the image for the first time, “This is what life is all about…. my whole life is here between my hands”
It’s a moment that has been etched into my memory.

For the photographers: The complete coverage was captured with only available light, no flash or other light sources where used to capture any of these images. This ensured that the family and guests could emmerse themselves in the moment and never felt like they where ever being photographed.
The result: moments that reflect the incredible relationships and love that this great family had for each other and for all of their friends.
Kate & Neil’s Christmas Wedding
Jan 14th
December 22nd and Kate & Neil tie the knot in a romantic ceremony on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. The ceremony took place in the beautiful sea side town of Sorrento, a few hours drive from Melbourne. The town was abuzz with people taking advantage of the summer school holidays. The reception was 15 minutes up the road at the world-class golf resort of The Peppers Moonah Links & The Golf Course.
Kate, a landscape architect, chose the location for their wedding for the exquisite beauty of the area and also for the rugged Australian landscape. One of the most important aspects in planning their wedding was the photography. They wanted to not only have the emotion of the day captured but equally important was capturing the locations. For me it was a dream job as everyone knows I love shooting landscapes and I love shooting weddings, so I got to photograph my two favourite things! I really do have a wonderful job. It was also worth the 3.30am start to get to Sorrento from Brisbane. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Thank you Kate & Neil for letting me be a special part of your day, and for giving me the opportunity to capture the beauty of your wedding in this stunning location. Hope you like your “weddingscapes”.
After a year of travelling to 10 different countries and visiting nearly every state and territory in Australia, this perfect wedding wrapped up the wonderful and amazing year that was 2008.

Real weddings: Brisbane Style Agatha and Matthew
Dec 10th
Congratulations to Agatha & Matt!
Agatha and Matthew’s emotive wedding has also been featured in the latest edition of Brisbane Bride to hit the shelves. Agatha & Matt asked Rachel Marsden from our Studio Impressions team to photograph their beautiful wedding held at Our Lady of Victories, Bowen Hills. Their reception was at Gianni’s Events at Portside.
Some of Rachel’s favourite images are below and the full story of Matt & Agatha’s wedding is avaliable online at BRISBANE BRIDE MAGAZINE 2009 edition.
It means a lot to us, as photographers, to be entrusted to capture someone’s memories and to do justice to the planning and effort and heartfelt emotion that goes into a wedding day. I just wanted to share the words from the people that count the most, our customers.
THE PHOTOGRAPHY: “From the moment we were engaged, one of the most important things for me to get the best photographers for our wedding. As soon as Rachel sat down with us to talk about what they do and how they do it, I instantly felt she was the right one to go with.”
“Our Photography package included a slideshow from the day for everyone to enyoy over dessert…so many people commented on it, saying they were brought to tears of joy! Our photos were divine and it was very difficult to choose which ones to have in our album.”
COVER: 2009 Brisbane Bride
Dec 10th
Congratulations to Patricia Torrisi, who will be adorning the news stands for the next 12 months as Brisbane Bride’s cover bride.
Patricia is wearing an original gown from designer Brad Webb of Darb Bridal Couture. She married Chris at the Greek Orthodox Church at South Brisbane and the reception was held in the Grand Ballroom at the Stamford Plaza hotel. The magazine is also available to view online at BRISBANE BRIDE MAGAZINE.
In their interview with Brisbane Bride, Patricia and Chris gave us the most lovely compliment; “Marcus captured each precious moment in a way we never imagined. The magic of our wedding day will be enjoyed for generations to come”.
Thank you Patrica and Chris for being such a wonderful couple to photograph, and for letting Studio Impressions be a part of your special day. Patricia, you have now become the third Studio Impressions bride in the past four years to be chosen as a cover model. You look beautiful!
Stephanie and Evan
Nov 29th
A collection of my favorite images from Sydney couple Stephanie and Evan’s wedding.
The Venue: Palmyra Estate – Private residence in the Noosa Hinterland, Queensland Australia.
Guests flew in from all over the world for this elegant wedding, with most of the immediate family coming from Sydney. Noosa is also one of my favourite regions in the world. A great place for a holiday and the perfect place for a destination wedding.
