I get to meet some great people in this job.
The day before Karen and Trent’s wedding, there was a terrible car accident out the front of the cottage they were staying in. They did not think twice about rushing to the aid of the occupants, administering first aid in a pretty scary situation.
This is Karen and Trent. They care so much about others and the world they live in, that they will put everything else ahead of themselves. I knew this even before the wedding: when I asked where they were going for their honeymoon, their reply was Fiji to (wait for it) volunteer in a vet surgery in Suva!
What is even more gobsmacking about all this, is that one of the occupants in the car turned out to be Trent’s cousin. After a night in hospital, he came to the wedding with a broken collar bone. Fortitude must run in the family!
The character of these two just shone at this wedding. Karen’s speech has to have been the most beautiful & touching speech of a bride to her groom that I have ever heard. I’ve been touched many times listening to speeches, but never before been stopped in my tracks. Trent – you should have gone first mate- there was no way to top that! Smart man though, he got up and honestly replied, “I’m speechless. How can I say anything after those magical words from my wife?” Perfect.
You might say these two are so lucky to have each other, but I actually think the rest of us are lucky to have this couple in our world. Thanks Karen and Trent for giving me the opportunity to meet you. I hope my photos give you some memories to hold onto. You have given me some.

Kirstin & Matthew got married at Maleny Manor. Now I’ve photographed a few weddings at Maleny Manor over the years (lost count) and what I love about this venue is that it never gets boring. Every wedding is different. Kirstin & Matthew, with the help of the very creative Trudy Croad at Lovebird Weddings, managed to transport me (and Maleny Manor) to the english countryside. I swear if it wasn’t for the view of the Glasshouse Mountains, I could have been in the Cotswolds.
This was a great wedding. Matthew is English and many of his family and friends travelled from the UK to be there to see Matthew & Kirstin become husband and wife. One of the things I love about England is that when the sun comes out, so do the people. Seriously, if you have ever been in London on a day when the sun finally forces its way through the clouds, you notice that people are suddenly everywhere in their shorts, sunbathing in the parks, playing footy or listening to music. It is like they don’t want to miss a second of the beautiful day that has blessed them. Sometimes I think in Queensland we get a little complacent & take our great weather for granted. Kirstin & Matthew’s wedding felt just like a summer day in England to me. The sun was shining in that warm winter way and thanks to the floral creations of Terrianne at Mondo Floral designs, it felt like a country garden. Between the ceremony & reception guests drank Pimms while playing croquet and boules on the lawn. It was all so gorgeous that we didn’t even leave the venue for a location shoot! All the photos (except the getting ready shots) were taken at Maleny Manor with their friends and family around. I have to say though I wouldn’t have minded a ride in the black London cab or the classic black jaguar that transported bridal party to the venue!
This wedding was fantastic! A real reflection of the two people that sealed their love that day. Kirstin & Matthew actually live in Abu Dhabi. I know why they chose this beautiful place to get married. It was perfect. Thank you Kirstin & Matthew for inviting us to be part of your day. May your marriage be filled with more perfect weather and warm sunshine!
And for the girls….the dress is Vera Wang….the shoes, Manolo Blahniks. I can hear you sigh…. Kirstin did look beautiful!
The theme was carried right through to the scrumptious cake by Cake Designs, and with the entertainment for the guests not stopping the whole night, including the fun of a dress up photobooth courtesy of Photobooth Moments.

On a weekend defined by a Royal Wedding, I funnily enough found myself with some time off. So grabbing this rare opportunity I took the boys & Penny up to Noosa for some R & R. A few days at the beach, surfing some waves, building monster truck stadiums in the sand (my boys don’t do sandcastles – not interactive enough) and eating good food was a great way to recharge my batteries. Penny said how she thought it was funny that I chose Noosa for a getaway because I seem to be at Noosa, the Sunshine Coast or the nearby hinterland so regularly with work this year. Still, wedding or no wedding, this part of the world is always a joy to visit.
It made me want to share a recent Sunshine Coast wedding with you. This one rivals the Royal Wedding for style, but thankfully, was a little more laid back and a lot more personal.
Belinda & Joel, chose The Plantation at Cooroy to share their love with family and friends. Their vintage inspired theme in the country surrounds of Cooroy really set the atmosphere for this wedding. A really relaxed affair with good food, good friends & good fun. Lots of touching moments, accompanied by a few tears and lots of laughter. Belinda looked elegant in a Johanna Johnson dress - like a movie star and I don’t think Joel could have been any more in love.
Belinda & Joel, thank you for sharing this beautiful day with me and adding to my wonderful memories of this magnificent part of the world.
