Toni & Daniel
Jan 30th
Regardless of the weather, lovers are still getting hitched. So despite all the upheaval the recent rains have brought, we have found a little bit of peace and happiness in all the weddings we have photographed these past few months. At least those dark clouds look great in the images I took at Toni & Daniel’s recent wedding.
I’ve been meaning to share this fantastic wedding for quite a few weeks now. Toni & Daniel are just the nicest couple you could meet. You can tell that just by looking at their photos. I seemed to have a lot of images where they were being given big hugs and cuddles by their friends & family or by each other. Of course. After spending time with them, I wanted to give them a big hug too. Their stunning and emotional wedding was at Maleny Manor and Mondo Floral Design provided the perfectly formed bouquets of Toni & her bridesmaids.
Congratulations Toni & Daniel, and thanks so much for choosing me as your photographer. You made me smile, you made me laugh and I loved every minute of photographing your fantastic wedding.

Ainsley & Matthew

One of the many things I love about weddings is the characters you meet. Weddings really bring out the best in people. You see people at their happiest and often, at their funniest. Ainsley & Matthew had a classically stylish wedding, traditional in its ceremony, yet FULL of character. Or was that characters.
It all started at Ainsley’s parent’s house where the whole family were clearly having a great time already. I think I became the butt of the jokes as they all took to pulling funny faces during photos. Then I got to the church and the altar boys gave me the same treatment. How can I get annoyed though when everyone was just having a great time. The whole family seemed to just enjoy each other’s company & the good vibe was just infectious. Thankfully, as you will see below, I did get some images without the funny faces. I’ve reserved those for Ainsley & Matthew’s album (now who’s laughing hey?)
I met some great characters at this wedding & had an absolute blast. It was touching & emotional, but most of all this wedding was happy. Thank you Ainsley & Matthew for sharing your day and your fun family & friends with me.
Now for all the details – their ceremony was at the majestic Albert St Uniting Church, followed by Reception at The Strand at Rugby Quay and that simply gorgeous cake was a Julie Whitehead creation.
Best of luck Ainsley & Matthew!

Annie & Brian

One of my favourite things to photograph are tea ceremonies. I love the history and tradition that they represent, but even more, I love the intimacy of a tea ceremony. Watching as a bride or groom serve their parents tea in a gesture of thanks and respect, I can’t help but notice the mix of pride, joy and sadness that never fails to come across the faces of their parents. And when it is part of a small ceremony that only the immediate family attend, I can’t help but feel touched to be privy to this exchange of tea and emotion.
Annie and Brian let me experience this twice. First at the Marriot Hotel Brisbane where Annie was getting married, and then at the home of Brian’s parents. It was beautiful. This wedding was full of beautiful, interesting, and some funny traditions. Little ceremonies within a big celebration. I just couldn’t get enough.
Annie and Brian’s wedding ceremony and reception was at the Glades golf club on the Gold Coast, and the day was glorious. Warm sunshine and fluffy clouds, a soft sun shower, wind through the long grass, lifting Annie’s veil, family love and tenderness. All I had to do on this day was open my eyes.
Thank you Annie and Brian for sharing your wedding day and your families with me.

Rebekah & John
Mar 13th
Both Adam & I have been lucky enough to have photographed several weddings within one family. This is one of the things I love about our job – really getting to know people – families. I know that some couples get worried about having the same photographer as their sister/brother/friend, but we’ve always found that having the same photographer doesn’t mean that your photos are the same (well it shouldn’t). Every wedding is different & so the images from every wedding will be different. And if, as a photographer, you get to know each couple as individuals, it is natural to capture their individuality in their images. I thought about this recently when I was looking through Adam’s images from Rebekah & John’s wedding. This was the third wedding in the O’Keefe family that Adam had photographed. He had captured John’s sister, Peta’s wedding to Michael, and then their brother Steven’s wedding to Jane. Three siblings, all very different, all uniquely beautiful weddings.
Rebekah wore a Wendy Makin dress and her flowers were by The Flower Garden. She got ready at Marina Quays – Hope Island before marrying John at the Guardian Angel Southport with their reception at the Boardwalk Tavern Hope Island. It was a crazy time for John & Rebekah. In the days following the wedding, they had to move to Canberra. Then, John was going away on assignment with the armed forces. So John & Rebekah, thanks for letting Studio Impressions be part of your big day. We know how important this time with your family was to you.
The family connection doesn’t end with this wedding though…. we are excited to say that Adam will be soon capturing portraits of Olivia, Peta & Michael’s gorgeous first child. Adam & all of us at Studio Impressions would also like to congratulate Jane & Steven on the recent birth of their baby daughter Matilda. Two little girls for the O’Keefe family. Watch out Rebekah & John!

Alison & Richard
Feb 19th
Adam photographed the classically beautiful wedding of Alison & Richard, so this time I asked him to put together his thoughts on this wedding. Here is what he said……
“When I first met Alison & Richard, I knew straight away that I wanted to be part of their day, they were so clearly in love and truly belonged together. Then they told me about their wedding day plans and I was so happy when they explained the style of day they had in mind. They were having the ceremony at the State Library on the Queensland Terrace, right on the river in Brisbane, followed by the reception on the upper deck of Goma, the Rooftop Terrace. The urban landscape photographer in me was totally excited by what I knew I could capture for them. Then I found out that Brad from Darb Bridal Couture was designing Alison’s gown, and Styled Events and Always Fabulous Flowers were teaming up to handle the event styling, giving everything its finishing touches, along with a cake by the Welsh Lady. I could hardly contain myself! Even the boys were getting into the style of the event and had arranged custom suits from The Cloakroom, to ensure they looked their best. On the day, as Alison was getting ready at the Stamford Plaza, I could see why the boys took it up a notch, because Alison and the girls looked totally stunning! I will admit the boys looked pretty dapper in their suits too. It all looked so great as the bridal party arrived in cars from A Classic Benz that I just couldn’t help but include them in some of the shots.
What followed was such a flawlessly stylish and elegant wedding, with everyone on the day relaxing and immersing themselves in the atmosphere. I guess that’s what happens when you choose such great suppliers to be part of your day, and have a couple who are some of the most loving and caring people I’ve met. Congratulations again Alison & Richard, it was a real priviledge to be chosen to capture your day, I know your future together will be as remarkable as your wedding was. “ Adam.

Cara-Lynn & Osmond
Feb 1st
Cara-Lynn & Osmond actually got married a few months ago now and I’m not sure why it has taken me this long to post as it was one of the most touching weddings I’ve photographed.
Cara-Lynn & Osmond had a joyous wedding ceremony at Stuartholme College Chapel and then followed it with an initimate Tea Ceremony at Hillstone St Lucia where they also held their reception. You can see from the small selection of images I’ve put here that these two are very close to their friends and family. It was one of those weddings where there were many happy moments and many instances that made me laugh, smile and sometimes even brought a little tear. There was one story though, that really stood out for me at this wedding. During the speeches, Cara’s Dad spoke of her love for her Gong Gong (her Grandfather) and how she has expressed that love in the bombonieres at the wedding. Cara has given me permission to share this story from her……
“As a child, I looked up to my beloved Gong Gong (grandfather). He was the person I loved the most because he was always so kind, gentle and patient to everyone around him. According to an ancient Japanese legend, a person would be granted a wish after folding 1,000 origami cranes. When my Gong Gong became ill, I decided to fold 1,000 origami cranes in order to get a wish. Once I achieved that goal, I was going to wish for his recovery. Unfortunately, I had only folded over 600 cranes when he passed away. Despite this, I did not stop folding origami cranes. It gives me a sense of peace and focus when I am folding the cranes. Perhaps it is a subconscious reminder of my Gong Gong.”
Cara-Lynn, I am sure your Gong Gong was looking down and was very proud of you on your wedding day. Thank you both for sharing your special day with me and again reminding me why these times and these memories are so precious.
