When Katrina & David chose the natural surrounds of O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat as the setting for their beautiful wedding, nature gave them, (and me), a little more than we bargained for. With winds around 80km/hour at times, the weather proved a bit of a challenge on the day. It might have blown a few trees across the road, but the wind couldn’t blow the smile off David’s face as he saw his bride for the first time.
Katrina & David are pretty talented people. Katrina even made her own wedding cake and stationery and bonbonniere. A love of music and landscape photography brought them together. (No pressure on the location shoot or anything!) I really liked the subtle references to these shared interests they weaved throughout their wedding day. Even the choice of venue was the perfect reflection of them. It also provided some amazing photo opportunities. This was such a beautiful relaxed wedding for such a lovely couple – it was worth every second of the somewhat scary drive up the mountain!
There is a quote from Nicholas Sparks (the guy who wrote The Notebook) that says “Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.” Seems like he might have said that about David & Katrina’s wedding.
David and Katrina, I hope you love your images as much as I loved being there to capture them. May your deep connection grow stronger every day.
