Yesterday was the birthday of a lovely wedding planner and stylist that we know, Trudy from  Lovebird Weddings She celebrated in her usual impeccable style with a stunning outdoor celebration.  It made me think of the shoot Aurelie & I did earlier this year styled by Trudy and showcasing the newly renovated Venue: Spicers Tamarind Retreat.

I’ve always been a believer that you need a place to dream.  It is good for business and essential for the soul.   Before we had children & Penny worked in the studio she was a manager in a rapidly growing highly successful, consultancy firm.   This business was run by a small team led by some of the most dynamic, intelligent & hardworking people I know.  Every year this little team of decision makers would take two days at what they called their “Tamarind Retreat”.  They would stay at Tamarind brainstorming and planning for the business’ future, in a relaxed and creative environment, fueled by the great food Spicer’s served & then relax at night in their own cabins.   Partners were always invited.  So during the day when Penny was off doing her planning, I would spend the time planning for Studio Impressions in the luxurious confines of my Tamarind Cabin or by the waterfall.  At night I would join them for dinner & debrief our ideas together.    Those days taught me the importance of time out to dream and to plan, to have a vision for Studio Impressions – that working on my business is as important as working in it.    Now, Penny & I still take time out to dream & to plan for Studio Impressions & we still call it our “Tamarind”, even if we are only on our couch.   So, when Trudy invited me back to Tamarind to photograph how beautiful this place is for weddings, I could not resist.

An amazing team of wedding suppliers came together to create this look.  Here are some of the images that Aurelie & I took with the fantastic models from: Division Models dressed by  MXM (bridal gowns) and Wil Valor (suits).   The model’s hair was by Jacinta Lennox and make-up by TF Makeup

All the styling was done by the lovely Trudy at Lovebird Weddings who worked with Terrianne at  Mondo Floral Designs on the floral arrangements, With Love Stationery & Design for the stationery details and cake by Cake Designs.   Spicers Tamarind Restaurant also showed off their amazing talents in the kitchen.  Food is after all an essential part of any great event!

More from this fantastic shoot will be featured in the next edition of Sunshine Coast Brides magazine, out in a few weeks.  Thanks everyone for your professionalism and creativity on the day.   It was amazing to work with you all.   Big thanks also to Trudy for taking me back to a place that I love, and unexpectedly reminding me of so much more.   Happy Birthday!
