One of the most demanding professional weeks I have ever experienced! In five days I shot a full wedding, a day long fashion shoot, two nights of night time shoots on the streets of Tokyo and two full day workshop presentations. Asukanet (www.asukanet.co.jp) and supporting companies invited me to share my experience with digital technologies in Japan. I was amazed to find out that over 80% of professional photographers in Japan still shoot film. Asukanet is helping to make a dramatic change in a market based on tradition. It was exciting to be part of that change.
Here are some of the images I took on my trip to Japan.
The wedding was particularly challenging and rewarding. Japanese people are not used to having their wedding photos taken in urban landscapes and such public places. I may have pushed the boundaries a little by taking wedding photos in the streets of Roppingi – not traditionally a wedding location! I have to truly thank the staff of Asukanet for the amazing hospitality, their patience, and their willingness to try something very different for Japan. Asukanet are the makers of the artbooks we do for Studio Impressions clients. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
